How to set a GIOTECK VX-2 controller set up to use on a pc? How to set a GIOTECK controller set up to use on a pc? The Gioteck VX-1 has two variants: wired and wireless. I’ve bought the wired one because it is, well, cheaper. The only difference in feature between the wired and wireless VX-1 is the wire. Gioteck explain how to resent their Bluetooth controllers for the PS3.

Connectivity issues

My controller wont connect to my PS4

  • Please ensure you use the cable provided and connect directly into the USB port on your PS4.
    1. Press and hold the “home” button for approximately 3 seconds.
    2. Connection will be made and you will be prompted to “select a user”.
    3. Once selected your profile or a guest profile the controller will be connected and ready to use.
  • Please press and hold the small “reset” button on the underside of the controller for 3 seconds. This will return the unit to factory settings.Please then retry the above steps.
  • If your controller still fails to connect, please download latest update at www.gioteck.com/firmware ensuring you have selected the correct version. Follow the steps on the website to update the controller to the latest settings.

My controller wont connect to my PC

  • Connecting to PC via a wired connection is advised. Simply connect via the USB cable provided with “plug and play” support.
  • The VX-4 is setup for DInput to support PS4 play. This will be fully supported in Steam and therefore any game that supports gamepad play in the Steam environment is compatible out of the box.
  • If you wish to play PC games outside of “Steam” please visit https://www.x360ce.com/files/x360ce.zip and download the Xinput emulator software for your PC. Once installed and your VX-4 controller is plugged in or connected via Bluetooth, please go to “controller 1” tab and press “+ Add” to add your VX-4 to the software. Once the VX-4 is recognised, please map your buttons to the desired controls and save this setup for future use. Once saved, this will now become usable for all games that require XInput such as Fortnite.

My controller wont connect to my PC via Bluetooth

  • For wireless Bluetooth™ connectivity, (designed for gameplay within Steam software).
    1. Firstly, open Steam in “Big picture mode” and have this loaded in your system tray.
    2. Navigate to “Bluetooth & devices” in Windows settings.
    3. Press and hold “home button” & “share” on your controller for 5 seconds until the LED’s repeatedly blink twice. The controller is now in “pairing” mode.
    4. Select “Add Bluetooth device” on your PC and then select “Bluetooth” from the available drop down. You will see “wireless controller” available in the options. Select this and wait for Windows to setup the device.
    5. During operation in Steam, you can press and hold the home button to turn the controller off. When re-connecting, simply load Steam, and press the home button once on the controller. The LED’s will flash and connection will be made.

Audio issues

There is no audio through my headphones via the Aux port

  • Please ensure 3.5mm connector is fully seated in the aux port
  • Please navigate to settings on your PS4 console.
  • Select device / controller settings.
  • Select Audio settings and switch between sound/chat/all for sound through your controller vs your TV.

There is no audio through my TV

Battery/charging issues

  • My controller wont charge
    1. Please ensure you are charging via the PS4 console or USB port on your PC only. Whilst other adapters/chargers may work, incompatible amperage may be an issue.
    2. Please ensure your PS4 or PC are connected to mains power
    3. If your controller still won’t charge, please press and hold the small “reset” button on the underside of the controller for 3 seconds. This will return the unit to factory settings. Please then repeat the above steps.
    4. Please charge the battery for 3 hours without any use. Once fully charged, please disconnect from power source.
  • My battery won’t hold its charge
    1. Please press and hold the small “reset” button on the underside of the controller for 3 seconds. This will return the unit to factory settings.

    1. Press and hold the “home” button for approximately 3 seconds.
    2. Connection will be made and you will be prompted to “select a user”.

  • Wireless Setup:
    1. Navigate to the controller menu in your Switch™ settings.
    2. Navigate to “change grips/order” menu within the controller menu
    3. Whilst displaying this screen, press and hold “home” and “Y” for 3 seconds until the LED’s flash indicating the controller is in pairing mode.
    4. After approximately 10 seconds, the controller will connect to the Switch™
    5. If the controller fails to connect. Repeat these steps.
    6. If the controller still fails to connect, please move to wired setup
  • Wired Setup
    1. Plug the cable provided into your Switch™ dock ensuring the dock has mains power
    2. Connect the controller
    3. The Switch™ will automatically detect the controller and connect.
    4. You can now remove the cable from the controller and continue to connect wirelessly (providing controller has sufficient power)
    5. If your controller still fails to connect, please press and hold the small “reset” button on the back of the controller for 3 seconds. Repeat the above two steps.

Connectivity issues

My controller wont connect to my Switch

Firstly, please ensure your Nintendo Switch™ has Bluetooth connectivity turned on, and the Airplane mode turned off in the Switch™ Settings. Once this is confirmed, please use one of the following steps to connect your JC-20.

  • Wireless Setup:
    1. Locate the “Controllers” menu on your Switch™ home page
    2. Select “Grips/Order”
    3. Press and hold the small “Pair” button on the side of the controller for at least 5 seconds until the LED’s start to flash
    4. The LED’s will flash confirming that the controller is searching for a connection
    5. After approximately 15 seconds the controller will vibrate and connect. You will see the controller visible in the “Grips/Order” menu.
    6. Please wait up to 30 seconds before trying again, as this may interrupt the BT pairing mode.
    7. Please repeat these easy steps for the second controller.
  • Wired Setup
    1. Locate the “Controllers” menu on your Switch™ home menu
    2. Select “Grips/Order”.
    3. Connect the controller via the USB cable provided, connecting the USB-A connector to the rear of the Nintendo Switch™ dock.
    4. Press any button to turn on the controller
    5. The LED’s will flash confirming that the controller is searching for a connection.
    6. After approximately 15 seconds the controller will vibrate and connect. You will see the controller visible in the “Grips/Order” menu.
    7. Please wait up to 30 seconds before trying again, as this may interrupt the BT pairing mode.
    8. Please repeat these easy steps for the second controller.
  • After the controllers have been paired, in future a simple press of any button will turn the controllers “on” and will automatically connect to your Switch™. If for any reason the JC-20 fails to connect please repeat step 1 or 2.

Step 1:
Load firmware update

Step 2:

Press D-Pad down and Triangle and connect via usb cable.
The menu will change showing the controller is ready to update.


Step 3:

Press “update” and the firmware will load.
Once completed it will show “PASS”.

Only if it fails, will the customer need to use the “reset” button on the rear of the controller to wipe corrupt firmware.

Step 1:
Load firmware and select “wired” version.


Step 2:

Press D-Pad down and Triangle and connect via usb cable.
The menu will change showing the controller is ready to update.


Step 3:

Press “update”.
Once completed, remove the USB cable.

Step 1:
Open the firmware tool.
Select “Auto Download” option.


Step 2:

Open the firmware tool.
Hold D-Pad up and B and whilst compressed, insert the USB cable to the PC.
The download will start.


Step 3:

Once the download has completed you will see the word “PASS”.
Remove the USB cable from the PC

Step 1:
Downlaoad the packaged application and open the “.exe” file.
Click “OpenFile”


Step 2:

Select the firmware “.hex file” file included in the Switch package downloaded.
Connect the WX-4 wired to the PC via USB cable.
Press “Download”.


Step 3:

Once complete, disconnect the USB cable.
